Little Grebe – Thorney Island

After a morning bike ride we decided to go for a good walk.

A proper tour of Hayling Island is still on the cards, but another blog post inspired me to try Thorney Island.

We parked at Prinstead on the North East edge of the island, and made our way around in a clockwise direction.

Just a few minutes into the walk we saw three beautiful “Powderpuffs” in a small channel near our path.

These delightful birds are more widely known as Little Grebe, and tend to be quite timid.

Thankfully a 300mm lens was good enough to get a reasonable shot of this delightful species.
