Animal Farm – George Orwell
I’ve read a fair few George Orwell books, but this is probably the smallest and most complete.
Using farmyard animals as “cover” Orwell uses less than 90 pages to unpack the futility and inequalities prevalent in communism.
It must be 40 years since I last dipped into these pages, but I was glad to be back.
All too often Orwell’s books seem to start out incredibly well, and then it seems he just kept writing whilst the quality fell off a cliff half way through.
Here the author is on a mission, or perhaps he was just short of cash and needed to cover a few expenses?
Classic Book – Snowgood Rating – 9 out of 10.
Please save this copy so I can have a borrow/read sometime
