After the Rodney Smith memorial it was game over, and time to head home.

I popped out onto Oakhill Road at just the right point (despite the lack of Greenwich Meridian Trail signage), which hopefully would make for an easy start for Leg 13 of the walk.

My nearest station was Highams Park, and even the short walk there was fun.

I like sizing up these suburban properties, marvelling at £90,000 Porsche outside 3 bed-semis, or smiling with delight at little Daihatsu Copens.

I once test drove a bright yellow Copen, and absolutely loved it.  When push came to shove I simply couldn’t cope (bad joke) with the 3000 mile service intervals.

Mind you’d I’d still rather have of these than an ugly Panerama!

An hour later I was back in Purley where I discovered my Hyundai had a £40 present attached to the windscreen.

I’d parked in the wrong bay for free parking, ironically the Saturday FREE spaces were nearer the station.

C’est la vie.

I’d had a great morning.

The 12 mile walk had been worth it!
