Birdwatching February 2022
After a splendid “birding” start to the year February brought far fewer opportunities to get out with my binoculars, and ‘scope.
I’m way behind on my quest to sketch every species seen this year, but picked up a few old business cards and started out again this afternoon.
The oft’ overlooked Dunnock is far prettier in real life than my amateur illustration, and Gadwalls are curiously attractive – even if they look like Mallards without the colour.
The favourite bird this month has to be the Black-Necked Grebe seen on the Rye Harbour reserve last Saturday. Although my biggest surprise was discovering 2 Grey Partridges outside our Head Office when I made my first visit there for 2 years.
Here’s my January List – just 69 species.
