Consider it pure joy

Earlier in the week I was “a bit down”.

80% of my work issues relate to dealing with that “Supertanker” called Brexit. Maybe 20% are related to the fallout from COVID 19.

I’m not a great football fan, so Monday’s mood had nothing to do with football. It just felt like the last 8-9 months had caught up with me and I’d had enough.

In our home we read “God’s Word” privately each morning, and open the Bible again part way through our evening meal.

By 7:00pm in the evening my despondency had been replaced by hope after reading

And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God

Hebrews 12 :2-3

Tuesday was a challenge, but in the evening we were encouraged

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever

may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him

Hebrews 13: verses 8 + 20-21

Today my joy came from a House Martin flying around its nest in Turners Hill. Numbers seem very low this year, but this bird was such a welcome sight.

The mark in the sky just above the satellite dish is “my” little House Martin.

The lavender helped too.

What brought you JOY today?

The verse which came to mind tonight was

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters whenever you face trails of many kinds

James 1:2
