View from Holmbury Hill, Surrey

Our eastbound Greensand Way walk continued through to Holmbury Hill.

Here the view included a distant Gatwick Airport (a white mark on this photo).

Two years ago who would have guessed the nation’s second biggest airport would be reduced to a silent plateau?

We stood on the hill looking down, and I scanned the skies with my Ziess binoculars.

Not a plane in sight, anywhere.

Holmbury Hill is 856 feet high, and was the next ascent as we homed in on Tom’s car at one of the Leith Hill car parks.
