Windy Miller – Greensand Way

What a surprise.

Somehow I associate Windmills with the fens, or foothills of the Southdowns.

The last place I expected to find one is way up here at Pitch Hill a mile or so north of Ewhurst.

Reading about Windmills last year on The Greenwich Meridian Trail taught me that even low level windmills can suffer catastrophic damage in storms.

Quite how this Grade II example survives being mounted at 843 feet above sea level is quite beyond me.

Even so I’d love to live inside one!

If you live outside the UK and are above a “certain age” check out the original “Windy Miller” here.
