Braylsham Castle – SHoT 16

Who doesn’t love a beautiful 12th century castle?

If I was more organised I’d have known this stage of The Sussex Hospices Trail was going to drop through woodland and draw close to this magnificent castle.

Except it’s all a “sham” – perhaps this is why it has the name Braylsham?

The castle has a self built moat was constructed less than 30 years ago by a chap who knocked down his existing property, and decided to give it an ancient twist.

During normal times it is available for visits at £1000 a night, with the price to include Butler, Maid, and Chef to keep milady happy.

Later on the walk climbed back onto tarmac lanes and so onto Heathfield.
