SHoT 25 – Stane Street
After our quick lunch we started a long descent beside a green hump on the hill.
It reminded me of the power lines that have been carved into the South Downs to bring power to the National Grid from the Rampion Wind Farm.
Except the idea behind those earthworks is to hide the cables, and return the land back to the original contours.
Mmmm. What could be dead straight, and miles long forming a raised hump in the grass.
Something emanating from Chichester?
You got it!
A Roman Road – Stane Street no less, which linked Chichester to London.
Sometimes I’m so dim!
