Here’s my view back towards South Farm, and beyond that distant hill was “my” llama and Telscombe.

Perhaps I should have already mentioned that despite carrying my fairly recent OS Maps this Greenwich Meridian Trail is no straight forward matter.

Somehow the trail was not included at the time of print, so I’m relying on the Walking Englishman’s website to keep me heading in the right direction.

My maps are only there as back up if I get lost!

Once I’d walked through the quagmire that forms the central thoroughfare of South Farm I felt a glow of comfort.

I’m not complaining about the mud, both of the farmers I saw were friendly and courteous.

I enjoyed looking at the cattle, and young calves.

What truly brought me a sense of well being was the realisation that I’ve been here before.

Straight ahead out of the farm yard is the east bound South Downs Way, which i covered twice previously on Mountain Bike.

Up I climbed, comforted still further by the GMT marker on the gate at the bottom of this steep slope.

It was here that I decided to munch my sandwich, not that I could afford the luxury of a sit down.

I still needed to reach Lewes before dark, and it gets dark shortly after 4pm in mid January.

On top of the hill I took an amusing panoramic photo as a cyclist headed north.  One part of my photo has his back wheel, then a gap and the rest of the bike and rider!

A solitary Raven went over as I approached Mill Lane.

Just beyond it I came into the open and watched several riders, possibly on a hunt.

Before turning right the trail featured a cairn made up of flint, which marked the Meridian.
