Holland Haven and Essex Birds
We’re back in Sussex, and I’ve totted up the bird sightings seen around Mistley, Wrabness, Walton on the Naze, Frinton, and Holland on Sea.
Here’s the view from the hide at Holland Haven.
My definitive list over the three days away is as follows;
Blackbird, Black Headed Gull, Black Tailed Godwit, Blackcap (male), Brent Geese, Buzzard, Blue Tit.
Collared Dove, Carrion Crow, Curlew, Cormorant, Chaffinch, Canada Geese, Common Gull.
Greylag Geese, Great Black Backed Gull, Goldeneye, Great Crested Grebe, Grey Plover, Herring Gull, House Sparrow.
Jackdaw, Jay, Kestrel, Lapwing, Long Tailed Tits, Little Grebe.
Mallard, Moorhen, Mute Swan, Magpie, Mediterranean Gull (juv), Marsh Harrier.
Pintail, Pheasant, Peregrine, Pied Wagtail.
Red Legged Partridge, Robin, Rock Pipit, Redshank.
Song Thrush, Stonechat, Starling, Shelduck, Shoveler, Snipe.
Teal, Water Rail, Wigeon.
My record keeping wasn’t perfect – I should probably list a few more.
Fifty species over three days was quite reasonable for someone without a decent set of “bin’s”.
How many species can you see in the photo above?
