Another book polished off before the year is out.

I’m only vaguely familiar with Al Murray, and have enjoyed the odd snippets I’ve seen him perform on TV.

That made it a bit of a no brainer when Tom asked me if I’d like to give it a go.

The truth is I liked the opening chapters, with comedic touches as Al and his Dad get agitated by continuity errors.

Later on the book gets into a historical narrative, which forces the reader to reconsider the whole topic of “history”.

As in “what it is” and “how it’s defined”.

The closing paragraphs are quite a laugh, but the notion line is this;

Would the book have been published if it had been written by Joe Bloggs?

I doubt it.

My Rating: 3 out of 5
