over the Adur
On days when I’ve made less haste this has been a great spot for watching demoiselles.
These are the a “floaty” sub-species in the dragonfly family. Delicately drifting through the air on hot summer days.
As I crossed over on the old railway bridge (one half dismantled) I recalled the time I led Roz through here on a bike unsuited to the terrain.
It seemed like a good idea, but men and women don’t always have the same goals.
Maybe that’s why a pink bike now collects cobwebs, rather following in a Trek dust-cloud?
Just as I clicked my shoe into the pedal a sheep virtually fell into the river as it tried to have a drink.
I’m no expert, but it didn’t look like an aquatic creature to me. A fleece is probably not the most buoyant lifejacket.
Then I was gone.
Next point of interest, a couple of “early adopters” out blackberrying”.
It was all I could do to keep my mouth shut.
When I see e.Bikes I generally think people are cheating. Volt bikes seem pretty popular, and perform well.
Sadly they look clumsy, and don’t inspire me.
Of course I realise I should be more understanding, and not even silently judgemental.
I’m a work in progress, with an embryonic sense that I’m probably wrong.
Really I should embrace everyone who seeks out harmless adventure.
