At last we had our share of the sunshine.

Jim and I climbed one of the tallest hills in Northern England.

Strava says we did over 2000 feet of climbing up The Cheviot which is just over 2600ft above sea-level.

We could even see the Northumberland coastline, and an oil tanker in the distance.

The best sighting however was a solitary Golden Plover in summer plumage.

Our arduous decent took down a beside a stream which brought the added joy of a young Dipper, who kindly stayed still for the camera.

It was quite a trek from Elsdon, but well worth the effort.

A Spotted Flycatcher was the icing on the cake once we got down to the valley.
