The 2nd Feb 2019 had been marked in the diary for some time. A walk for four at a venue to be decided.
Then we had the snow. The same snow which kept people off the roads on Friday.
Jim’s idea was to travel, down towards Storrington.
I hesitated, but in truth the sun was out and the roads were fine.
We headed out to the Kithurst Hill car park, which was remarkably empty, booted up and were on our way.
Snow blanketed the fields, and magical views down to the sea. The Rampion Wind Farm was just about visible in the distance.
What a start.
We posed for the obligatory Churchill Tank shot, before heading off towards Storrington.
An update for you …
The tank was removed early in September 2019. It is due to be exhibited in Normandy as part of a D-Day museum. https://twitter.com/sdnpa/status/1168894212110262272
I’m glad we got to see it before it went!
Thanks for the update – maybe they can stick a turret on and make it better?
