One of the best things about my job is the chance to visit new places.
Today I could have turned back towards Dublin and used the motorway, but I thought it might be better to take a short cut.
My destination Naas was just the other side of the Sally Gap.
After years of listening to Christy Moore today was the chance to visit an area that gets mentioned in his songs.
The Wicklow Mountains.
It was like a bigger more wonderful Dartmoor.
On a mild day at sea level it was pretty parky “up top”, but the sun was shining so everything looked absolutely splendid.
I had a keen sense of envy as I came across numerous lycra clad cyclists, but maybe one day I’ll be back and join them!
Once through to the lowlands on the North East I enjoyed a light lunch in delightful town of Blessington.
Beautiful Stephen! I always get driven in Ireland so have no choice of road! The one positive aspect of using the motorway to Naas is that you have to pass the Poitin Stil with its excellent steak on a stone! View or steak? Difficult one.
