Your favourite part of Christmas 2018?

Food, Family, or Fun?

Maybe all three?

Yesterday some of us went on a night time walk, and came back in to see an old favourite on the kitchen table.

Formula 1!

Complete with faux Grand Prix cars, and 2 dice.

I wonder how many homes were buzzing with computer games, and digital technology?

It wasn’t always like this.

The season started in a cattle shed;

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Luke 2: 8-12

The Son of God came at a time when the Roman empire was in control.  How amazing that this regime was the very conduit that established our most amazing faith!

The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God, as it is written in Isaiah the prophet:

“I will send my messenger ahead of you,

who will prepare your way”

“a voice of one calling in the wilderness,

‘Prepare the way for the Lord,

make straight paths for him.’ ”

Mark 1: 1-3

John the Baptist wore dodgy clothes, and had a strange diet.

Even so he knew how important it was to get things in the right order.

Merry Christmas!

Have a good one.
