Once we’d got back to Bodiam Castle I left Roz to take it easy and look around.
My task was to finish Stage 13 of the Sussex Border Path, another three and half miles gradual climbing up to The Moor, near Hawkhurst.
I enjoyed looking down on the castle from what looked like a freshly planted vineyard.
Further on I came across a whole host of Oast Houses.
Spotting a solitary Red Legged Partridge was a delight, and various straggling rosehip plants brought back happy memories from childhood.
A few hundred yards from the end of the trek a squirrel wanted to join me.
Here he is before a Fiat Panda approached. He looked up, saw the danger and scurried off to a nearby tree.
Roz had taken the car, and was waiting for me outside the church
