Five hours and four minutes after starting “Walk 16 on the Mid-Sussex Link” I arrived in Scaynes Hill.
That’s officially 9 and half miles, but an actual 11 miles due to my occasional off-piste excursions.
Knock off 45 minutes for my lovely lunch break in the Green Man and it looks like I finished this stage at 2.5 mph.
Now I was faced with sussing out a way to Haywards Heath station.
A stranger in this pub recommended a cab company. Their booking even came with a tracking device so I could see the cab on his way to collect me.
Fifteen minutes later a smart Seat Alhambra arrived.
The £7.20 fare was money well spent.
