After a delightful mint choc chip ice cream from the letter frame in this picture we followed the South Downs Way up onto Cocking Down.

Ten minutes later we forked off left, and stopped for lunch. We found ourselves at the edge of a maize field.

In the distance a chalk quarry forms an abrupt boundary to Manor Farm.
