We’ve a few commitments today, but the sun was shining and we had time for a stroll locally.

It started off well as I listened to Goldcrest singing up ahead of us.

Britain’s tiniest bird is easily heard, but seldom seen as they are often buried among high level foliage.

So I was rather surprised to see a pair tumble out of a tree and flutter across our lane into the bushes opposite.

As they were falling they seemed to be head to head spinning like a propellor, moments later one of them flew back up and across us.

He perched up above, and Roz and I both got a good view of him before he returned to his foraging.

We crossed the B2028 and had a friendly chat with a neighbour before heading west, and into the countryside.

These magnificent flowers were seen on the blackberry bushes, and added to a wonderful morning.
