Tomorrow we hope to gather with the family and say our last good-bye to Auntie Whyee, who passed away two weeks ago.

She lived an active life, and was quite independent up until her late eighties.

Here is she is at a Christmas gathering back in 2013, with still two “good years” ahead of her before she needed full-time care.

I was thinking of her this morning as I read a passage from David’s Psalm.

Because I am righteous, I will see you. When I awake, I will see you face to face and be satisfied.

Psalm 17:15

At the age of 8 she decided to follow Jesus.

Whyee had a quiet contented life, and a short but happy marriage to Arch Broadbridge.

Even in her 91st year she would happily finish off verses from the Bible as I read them to her in her room at Parkside Nursing Home.

She didn’t trust in her own righteousness, but as she’d confessed her sin and trusted in Jesus she too like David could rest in the hope that she would one day awake, and see her  Lord face to face.
