At  1pm the Thorney Island Yacht Club opened their doors for visitors.  Thankfully you don’t need to be a member to grab a drink or bag of crisps.

The lady behind the bar was tremendously enthusiastic about the island, and has spent thirty years sailing here.

Before leaving she suggested that we keep an eye out for the harbour seals (she’d recently seen seven).

We still had a fair way to go, but before long we were up at Longmere Point, which blends into Pilsey Sands.

From here you can look across the far more populous West Wittering, and along the beach we watched winter plumage Dunlin running along, and hoiking out their dinner.
