the essence of Goodwood
The Revival is much more than just a “race meeting”.
The audience arrive dressed (by and large) in sixties garb to enhance the overall experience.
There are more R.A.F. officers in the crowd than at Brise Norton, and many of the ladies wear flared polka dot dresses.
Even the caterers have to trade from suitably retro vans. I enjoyed a curry from a classic Citroen H van.
I’d hazard a guess that there no such thing as a Citroen Indian take-away wagon in the swinging sixties, but Lord March knows how to put on a show.
The revival features cars from 1948 to 1966, and motorbikes from the thirties.
Somehow modern exotica is allowed into the Earls Court recreation, but for every new vehicle there’s a classic.
If you’re eagle eyed you’ll be able to spot one of several Lotus Climax 16’s through the period chestnut palings.
