Nearly forty years ago I almost paid a visit  to Arundel Castle.

Instead the crazy gang from “MYF” hired a flotilla of rowing boats on the nearby lake.

It was hot and sunny, and we had a right lark splashing and ramming each other.

We decided to “do” the castle some other time.

Since then I’d come to view the place as a slab sided monstrosity, but then I suppose I’ve seen it on dismal grey days.

Today was different and we actually got out of bed early enough to get a free parking spac e outside.

The best tickets cost £18 a head, and we bought two.

The gardens were FANTASTIC, almost Alhambra like, but without the intense heat or Easyjet flight.

More to follow……
