Yesterday a Green Woodpecker was in the oak outside my bedroom window.

By the time I’d swapped to a telephoto lens it was gone.

So before I went to bed I left the camera ready to have another go today.

Game on.

Whilst I was finishing my reports that distinctive call wafted through the window.

I ran upstairs pointed the camera skywards and got this!

In 4 years at Rufwood I’ve heard the call scores of times, but this is the first year the biggest UK Woodpecker has started coming into our front garden.

I think I can do better.

Here’s hoping.
