On Friday nights we were out eating with the natives.

One of them suggested I try the trail that runs up from Shoreham to Horsham.

If I’d been up at a decent time instead of glued underneath my quilt I might have made it all the way to my office.

Even so it was a pleasure to tackle a new route, which starts less than 800 yards from the excellent “Real Patisserie”.

I only had a lemonade and a sausage roll, before the steady climb beside the Adur and a chance to explore the rather wonderful town of Steyning.

More to follow….
