I’m saddened by the fact that “some people” still can’t get over the nation’s decision to leave the European Union.

Okay, okay, it’s risky.

Nobody knows what will happen.

“Some people” have every reason to be fearful.

But what about those who aim to follow Christ?

How should we view the situation, and the scaremongering in certain quarters?

Where are we putting our trust? Who are we trusting?

Tonight a classic hymn has been on my mind.

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.

CHORUS

On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

CHORUS

His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.

CHORUS

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

CHORUS

For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.

Titus 2:11-15

  1. Another one of mine and my mother’s favorite hymns. I’m going to go listen to it.
