Sanderling at West Wittering
Quite pleased with this shot.
My little Sony a6000 with the 18-200mm isn’t really the ideal kit for “shooting”small waders.
Even so, you can see this specimen has red, blue, and yellow rings.
Birds such as these are caught in nets, and rings placed on their legs so that the finest ornithologists can track bird movements around the globe.
If I’d been looking through my Kowa scope I’d probably have been able to make out the numerals on each leg ring.
I was delighted that a couple walking barefoot along the water’s edge changed course to avoid disturbing the foraging Sanderling.
In doing so they ensured I didn’t lose a good photo.
