32 years on – Caravan

My favourite band of the 70s?

Seen in Fairfield Halls, Croydon when they were at the height of their powers.

They came from Canterbury, had long hair, and looked incredibly cool.

The sound? Prog Rock with a hint of folk.

No sugary love songs, and quite a few tracks that sounded like extended jams.

Their album covers and titles amused and surprised in equal measure.

Twenty Eight years after I saw them the gig was released as an official album, and now in 2016 I’ve been to see them again.

Of the original line up only Pye Hastings remains, and Farncombe Parish Church proved a suitable venue for 300 music fans to re-live their youth.

Mark Walker was my favourite performer drumming with a fantastic energy, and a broad smile.
