who conducts the waves upon the sea?

Who can know the mind of our creator?

Who can speak of wonders yet unseen?

Who can reach the height of understanding,

to play the notes of wisdom’s melody?

Who has weighed the dust of every mountain,

who has walked the mysteries of the deep?

Who has laid the earth on its foundation

and who conducts the waves upon the sea?

You have seen the end from the beginning,

you have been before the world began.

You have reached to me within my darkness

and in the light of mercy now I see.

This evening we were at St.Nick’s Sevenoaks for the last in their Lent “Toolbox” series.

The guest speaker Professor John Wyatt presented a Biblical perspective on “Assisted Suicide, Euthanasia, and End of Life Care.

The speaker was also able to add a Biblical perspective on Dementia.

I hadn’t realised that the UK are the world leaders in palliative care, nor that a passionate Christian Cicely Saunders was the founder of Hospice movement.

Over 500,000 people die each year in the UK, and about 20 make a one way trip to Switzerland.

Should we ever contemplate making such a trip?  Or help someone on their way?

If you want a Biblical perspective rush read  Right to Die?

(Or borrow my copy)

We sang Martin Layzell’s chorus in the interval.

The last line of the second verse caught my attention.
