Once upon a time Britain was a great place.

We had the best engineers, and architects, and it was good to live here.

These days most buildings are thrown up with little attention to detail.

The Victorians knew how to build beautiful and enduring structures.

Whilst the elements and neglect have eroded the beauty of places like Torquay, Eastbourne there are still a few towns which carry off a sense of majesty.

Here’s a night time shot of Aberystwyth, which only a few months ago took the brunt of a ferocious storm.

This section of the sea-front escaped the worst battering, and still looks splendid.

I was surprised to see these buildings in Wales, somehow I’d thought Victoriana was an English phenomena.
