Half way through the Macau F3 qualification race I tried to find a fresh “angle”.

Sam explained that the Chinese people tend to believe something is better if you have to pay for it.

Which explains why I found this spot without another photographer in sight.

The short walk brought me away from Nikon man to “Rampa do Padre Vasconcelos”.

A policeman walked out and waved to me.

Did he mean go away?

I thought not, as the plastic tape inferred some kind of access.

Residents only perhaps?

He told me I could go further, but “Keep to the right so my boss doesn’t see you”.

Brilliant!

I’d set a precedent and a few others came down too.

Funny how it needed an englishman to spot the opportunity.

The photo shows a Japanese driver who finished down in 20th position.

Despite being 4 seconds a lap off the pace he still fared better than the F1 bound Max Verstappen who’d crashed out earlier.

Hence the waved yellow and safety car sign.
