It has to be something special to get me up early on  a Saturday morning.

Something like an end of season motor racing weekend.

The 2014 Macau Grand Prix.

We arrived early as a host of wealthy Asians indulged themselves in highly tuned, and turbocharged “tin tops”.

Predictably the leading Mitsubishi Lancer blew up, which in turn caught out the desirable R34 Skyline on his tail.

We ended up just 5 laps racing, and 5 laps of safety car.

High catch fencing (which ruins the view), blazing sunshine coming from the wrong angle, and people consuming jugs of ale were enough to see us off.

At the time I wondered if we’d come all this way for nothing.
