I broke out of a deep sleep to find sunshine.

Joy of joys, after a gloomy Saturday morning and torrential rain in the afternoon.

So my first thoughts were that Roz and I might sieze the moment, and skip church.

I tossed the idea out for consideration.

Option 1: Wakehurst Place.

Option 2: Wildfowl and Wetland Trust at Barnes (London)

Option 3: RSPB at Pulborough (I missed the turning)

Option 4: Wilfowl and Wetland Trust at Arundel

Roz chose option 4, and we nearly sqeaked in option 3 as well.

Not that we missed it.

All the Poppy Day folk were crammed into Arundel, as we slipped into the Wetland Trust car park.

We did our bit, keeping the peace for 2 minutes at 11:00am, and jumped on a free boat ride.

These purpose built pleasure craft purr along on an electric motor at about 2 knots.

We’d hoped to spot Water Voles, but I made do with Buzzards, Pergine, Kestrel and mating dragonflies instead.

Here’s the nifty little craft later in the day.

I admit it looks a bit like The Herald of Free Enterprise, but no lives were lost.
