Our last full day, and it rained.

Forlorn cyclists drifted along outside.

Were we down?

Nope.

Not even when missed the bus heading towards Lake Brienz.

We just got on with it, and walked.

Catching another bus from Interlaken Ost.

All the big boats were moored, and we missed out on a free (very) mini cruise.

After watching a motley collection of ducks, and an inquisitive coot we scrambled into a lakeside  hotel.

The waitress was a cheerful Aussie, who gave us the low down on life “back home”, and planning issues in Grindlewald.

Having nursed our coffee for a full 45 minutes we braved the elements and headed back into the rain, taking Sheila’s route back.

We saw half a dozen goats, a big boat called “The Baden Powell”, and a few cows.  A very rapid prop driven monoplane flew overhead.

And it rained.

When we reached the canal we spotted a Little Grebe, and lots of pretty little bungalows each with an obligatory BBQ.

Trudge, trudge, trudge, and about 3 hours after we started we were back at the Hotel Rozilly.

Were we miserable?

Not a bit of it, we returned with a sense of achievement.

I’m sure the apostle Paul wasn’t thinking of a wet day in Switzerland when he wrote;

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

Philippians 4:4

but it’s all too easy to be dispirited when something doesn’t go quite according to plan.
