I’d been on the earlier train for a while and was disappointed to shoot my pictures through glass.

Then it dawned on me that the emminently sensible Swiss had probably designed the carriage with sight seeing in mind.

Sure enough the two small “coat hangers’ were actually my cue to sliding down the window.

Picture quality improved.

You might think 2 hours to the top is a long time, but there so many great views it would still be a joy if it took twice as long.

Strangely enough the conductor on Basle express at the end of the week let out his “Germanic” side.

After I opened a small slot for ventilation he came along with a special key, and without san apology rammed the frame sut, and locked it with a special key.

Most unfriendly.
