The first signs of old age are a changing attitude to snow.

When younger I viewed  the cold white stuff with glee.

An opportunity for snowball fights, tobogganning, and crazy drives in my trusty Renault 10.

Old age is now creeping into my pores in other ways.

Ferreting around inside the ancient chateau the intermediate rooms where pitch black, and the internal stairwells were little better.

It’s rather sad when you find yourself creeping along slowly for fear of injury, when in all probability you’re 100% safe.

Arthur soon had has outside into the open, and we dived down into the woods, back towards Switzerland.

The others raced ahead whilst I studied a “new call” from a woodpecker way above my head.

By this time my camera seemed surplus to requirements, but I caught this golden glow before we reached the vineyards below.

  1. Very nice. I’m with you on the snow thing.

  2. I’m with ya-

regardless of the inconvenience, there is nothing more spectacular than a blanket of fresh snow.
