Dartmoor Day 2- the slog up from Newbridge towards Ponsworthy
The iPhone suggested our route gently scaled the contours to the north of the River Dart, whilst Tom’s laminated map pointed “straight up”.
You guessed it.
We took the tougher track, accompanied by the liquid calls of Willow Warblers, and a few disinterested young calves that lined the way.
Reaching the road we chanced upon a slab of concrete, and I stretched out and stared into the heavens, such bliss! When was the last time I did this?
It takes me back to my late teens, when my mate Richard and I would walk around the South Downs, stretch out on the grass and wonder about life, the universe and everything, but especially girls!
At the start of Day 3 my reading is;
Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above , not on earthly things. For you died and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life appears, then you will also appear with him in glory.
Colossians 3:1-4 NIV
I leave that thought with you. I’ll be out of contact now for 5 days, until then….

Keep looking up – there’s only dirt under your feet.
Keep looking up – that is the way He is coming!
Hi Stephen, Glad to see you are still at it. I visited the bridge in Frankfurt you told me about. Got my own pics of it. I have a new blog now so I’m back in the neighborhood. Thought I’d drop by and say Hi!
Hello Amy
I tried to reply on my iPhone but the signal wasn’t strong enough.
I hope to see your Frankfurt photo sometime,it was raining when I was there and the colours were washed out. A bit like me after 5 days walking…
